Learn and Play at Home
Licenced In-Home Child Care
Hello! We are a licensed family home childcare in South Hill, Puyallup. Our goal as a childcare facility is to provide the child with an enjoyable and nurturing environment to promote healthy growth and development when they must be away from their parents.
Our program has a strong commitment to diversity and we will continually work toward providing a culturally enriched environment for the children. It is our goal to provide daily opportunities for each child to develop new skills and strengths in a range of areas: social/emotional, physical, language, cognitive, fine motor and large muscle skills. We work with each child to expand their horizons through a variety of easily accessible tools and materials. We offer a weekly lesson plan of activities that are designed to meet the developmental, cultural, and individual needs of children. Most importantly, we will focus on play in order to achieve these goals.
We recognize that as a parent/guardian you are the most important person in your child's life. We welcome parents to come and visit or volunteer, and encourage each of you to participate in your child's program activities.
Communication between parents and our staff is very important. This partnership assures your child development to his/her highest potential. We encourage you to observe your child and his classmates and to participate in some of the activities.
Please feel free to talk to me or call me any time, if you have a question about your child, the program or anything else.
MY Training and Experience
Since I was about 12 years old, I have been a caretaker of children. I was a babysitter, as lots of kids were, but I also went out of the way to start and operate a weekend playgroup for neighborhood kids, just for fun! In high school and college, I worked at a large childcare center and just loved it. I was there for many years and held many positions, starting as an art room assistant and moving up to day-camp director. Even though I loved working at the childcare, I felt that I needed to move on, and so I went to nursing school and became a LPN. As a nurse I have worked as a school nurse and for the past several years as a pediatric phone triage nurse.
I am CPR and first aid certified. I have had a current TB test and background check. I also continue my education regarding the care of young children by completing STARS training that is required by WA Department of Early Learning.
This is, most importantly, a family home. Aside from myself, my husband Mike, and our children Carleigh and Brody live here. Mike also has childcare experience, has passed a background check and is up to date on CPR, first aid and has had a TB test. We want to welcome children into our home and daycare program with the underlying feeling that they are playing at a friend's house, as opposed to being lost in a large facility. Family home care allows us to develop close relationships with each child as individuals.
